A Note From Fr. Oswaldo

Searching for Jesus…

Many people are looking for Jesus, they follow him through the meadows, the fields, in the city and by the lake. In the Gospel, we have two ways of understanding, why do people look for Jesus ?; Jesus himself says that they are looking for him, because he gave them bread and fish to eat and drink. He fed them the food that feeds the body, satisfies the temporary hunger, which will return when the body feels hunger again. That food depends on the effort of man, it must be produced by everyone, but in this case, when they receive it for free from Jesus, it becomes a burden and does not solve anything, because people will want to eat without working.

They will look for Jesus, only for him to give them food and drink for free, without effort, without the responsibility of overcoming, without having to sacrifice anything. This type of people is the one who only looks after their own interests and when the time comes to give testimony, they abandon everything and are able to leave Jesus and exchange him for another, who continues to give them the bread that only fills and satisfies the stomach. .Those also follow him through miracles, they are not able to see in Jesus the human person, the God made man, incarnate so that our human condition could be elevated to the condition of children of God.

The other group of people who followed Jesus, is the small group of the disciples, who saw in Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God, the one who came to give them the good news of the presence of God in their midst, the reconciliation , the forgiveness of sins and eternal life. They were not looking for the same manna that their parents ate, they were looking for the manna that falls from heaven, the one that never ends, the one that feeds the soul, not just the body.

Now, the question arises, in which group am I or are we?

1 - In the group that only looks for Jesus, because he gives them an answer to their bodily needs through miracles and moments of personal gratification, without any commitment to others? In the group that only wants to receive and not give?

2.- Or with the group that finds in Jesus the hope of having not only comfort on earth, but also the certainty of the kingdom of heaven, through service to others.

It is good to meditate on these two groups and pray that Jesus is for everyone the only way that leads to the total salvation of the soul and the body.

For those who want everything easy, without work and without responsibility, must know that in Christ they will not find it. Christ says, that we put in him all our worries, our pain and our projects. But he does not say that everything is going to fall from the sky, that we sit down to count the clouds and do nothing in life, that everyone else do everything, that they work for us, that would be too irresponsible on our part.

Christ wants us to take up our cross of the day, to receive our daily bread.

Buscando a Jesus………
